Avex Entertainment Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Katsumi Kuroiwa) held STAR ISLAND SINGAPORE COUNTDOWN EDITION 2019-2020 on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at The Float @ Marina Bay in Singapore.
STAR ISLAND is a world's first entertainment show taking place in iconic locations amidst superb landscapes around the world. It consists of traditional Japanese fireworks synchronized with cutting-edge technologies, such as 3D surround sound and lasers, and with one of the world's best performances. In 2018, for the first time, STAR ISLAND became the main attraction of the Singaporean government-sponsored Marina Bay Singapore Countdown, one of Asia's biggest countdown events. This spectacle, held for the second time in 2019, brought together 20,000 people and mesmerized approximately 500,000 people gathered around the venue from around the world.
This iteration of STAR ISLAND featured alongside the fireworks new, radiant costars: drones. 500 drones danced in the Singaporean night sky synchronized with traditional Japanese fireworks. 500 points of light generated by 500 drones danced in the air like a jelly fish, creating images in the sky such as whales, big birds, sparkling diamonds and even a rocket moving through space and a human running. When the drones made the shape of Merlion, the symbol of Singapore, the audience broke into a loud cheer.
Featuring a roller skating performance by Shingo Nishiki, the winner of 14th consecutive Roller Figure Skating Championship and other skaters and a performance by opera singer Marie Tatsumi, the event created a hugely flamboyant and stylish world befitting the start of 2020.
The third STAR ISLAND SINGAPORE COUNTDOWN EDITION is scheduled for the end of 2020. STAR ISLAND is engaged in discussions to bring the event to many other countries in 2020, with an aim of providing this new entertainment experience to the world.
