Handling of personal information accompanying insurance agency business

1. Management of insurer information

In order to prevent leaks, loss, destruction or damage to personal information related to the insurance agency business (hereinafter, “insurer information”), the Avex Group is committed to protecting insurer information by implementing appropriate security measures based on laws and regulations, guidelines and its own internal rules. The Avex Group also strives to ensure thorough protection by educating employees on the appropriate handling of insurer information.

2. Intended uses of insurer information

The Avex Group, having been delegated to act as insurance operator by the insurance company specified below, uses the insurer information it has obtained to provide the products, and the services incidental to such products, of said insurance company, as well as to provide property insurance, and its related and incidental services, as entrusted by the insurance company

Any changes in the uses described above shall be limited to those reasonably recognized as being relevant, and in case of changes, the changes shall be notified to the person concerned by written letter, as a general rule, or posted on the Company’s website (URL).

3. Provision of insurer information to third parties

The Avex Group does not provide insurer information to third parties without the consent of the person concerned except in the following cases:

  • 1) When based on laws and regulations;
  • 2) When it is required to protect an individual’s life, body or property and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the person concerned;
  • 3) When it is particularly necessary for the improvement of public health or for the sound growth of children and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the person concerned;
  • 4) When necessary to cooperate with a national or local government organization, or a business operator entrusted by such an organization, to carry out matters prescribed by laws and regulations and when obtaining the consent of the person concerned would interfere with such matters;

4. Handling of sensitive information

The use of sensitive information, like a customer’s health condition and medical history, is limited to the cases when, pursuant to the enforcement regulations of the Insurance Business Act and the “Guidelines on Personal Information Protection in the Financial Industry,” it is deemed necessary to ensure the proper conduction of business, within the scope necessary and subject to the customer’s consent.
The Avex Group does not collect, use or provide sensitive information to third parties for purposes other than those stated above.
