Avex Group Human Rights Policy

As a company that values and supports human creativity and talent, the Avex Group respects the human rights of all people across its supply and value chains.

1. Fundamental Principles

Based on the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs), the Avex Group promotes initiatives to respect human rights while establishing a human rights due diligence process in accordance with these principles.

In addition, the Group recognizes the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the two International Covenants on Human Rights that translate its principles into legally binding obligations—the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights— and the International Labour Organization (ILO) Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, which comprise freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining, the elimination of all forms of forced or compulsory labour, the effective abolition of child labour, the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation, and a safe and healthy working environment, as the minimum standards for respecting human rights, and works to enhance understanding of these principles among relevant stakeholders.

2. Persons and Entities Subject to this Policy (Scope of Application)

This policy applies to all individuals working for the Avex Group (including directors, full-time employees, contract employees, and part-time staff; hereinafter referred to as “officers and employees of Group companies”), as well as artists, talents, creators, and other individuals affiliated with the Avex Group. The Group also encourages all stakeholders across its supply and value chains, particularly partner companies and customers (fans), to understand and comply with this policy.

3. Responsibility for Policy Implementation

The President and CEO holds ultimate responsibility for the Group’s human rights initiatives. Specific measures, including the implementation of the human rights due diligence process, will be promoted through collaboration among relevant departments under the leadership of the executive responsible for sustainability.

4. Priority Rights-Holders

The Avex Group is committed to eliminating discrimination based on nationality, age, gender, disability, or any other attribute, and to respecting the human rights of all individuals. In particular, the Group promotes initiatives to respect human rights, including the implementation of human rights due diligence, with a focus on the following rights-holders who may be significantly affected by corporate activities. As the risk of adverse human rights impacts may change in response to developments in business activities, social conditions, and the broader human rights environment, the Group will continuously identify and assess areas of heightened risk and take appropriate remedial measures where necessary.

(1)Artists, Talents, and Creators Affiliated with the Group

The Group does not tolerate or overlook poor working conditions surrounding artists, talents, and creators. In order to ensure that all artists, talents, and creators can engage in their activities in a healthy and dignified environment, the Group respects individual autonomy and protects human rights throughout contractual relationships and the course of their activities.

(2)Officers and Employees of the Avex Group Companies

The Group complies with all applicable labor laws and occupational health and safety regulations, eliminates all forms of harassment, including power and sexual harassment through the abuse of authority, and strives to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all officers and employees of the Group companies.

(3)Officers, Employees, and Artists of Partner Companies

In its business relationships with partner companies, particularly those with which the Group has direct contractual relationships, the Group will conduct business in a transparent and fair manner and will not make unreasonable requests for cooperation or engage in coercive business practices. The Group also respects the human rights of officers, employees, artists, and all other individuals associated with partner companies and will not engage in any form of unfair treatment.

(4)Customers (Fans)

The Group thoroughly respects the privacy of customers (fans) and protects their personal information. It will not engage in any expressive activities, promotional advertising, or sales activities that may encourage discrimination and will strive to protect the human rights of all customers (fans).

5. Remedial Measures

The Avex Group does not tolerate or overlook human rights violations in the course of its business activities. If it becomes evident that the Group’s business activities have caused adverse impacts on human rights, the Group will take appropriate remedial measures, including working with suppliers, contractors, distributors, and other relevant parties.

6. Training and Awareness-Raising

The Avex Group provides appropriate training and awareness-raising initiatives to enable officers and employees of Group companies to deepen their understanding of “business and human rights” and to implement concrete measures based on this policy in their business activities.

7. Communication with Stakeholders and Information Disclosure

In order to promote human rights initiatives under this policy, the Avex Group will engage in ongoing dialogue with relevant stakeholders and continuously conduct the human rights due diligence process while actively utilizing internal and external expertise. Through these efforts, the Group will further strengthen its commitment to respect human rights. In addition to providing necessary information to relevant stakeholders, the Group will ensure appropriate disclosure of information through integrated reports and other channels.
